Lenovo Establishes Sub-Brand VIBE for High-end Smartphone Market

Lenovo unveiled its smartphone sub-brand Lenovo VIBE and the first smartphone under this brand in Beijing on September 28, as reported by the China Business Network. The brand targets the US$400-and-above market segment, expecting to provide better user experience and product design in a bid to grab a larger market share from the incumbent market leaders Apple and Samsung. As of the second quarter this year, Lenovo has shipped over 10 million smartphones for the first time, growing 130% year-on-year to around 12 million units, according to the report. Most of Lenovo's shipments were entry-level models priced below $1,000 RMB (US$163.4; US$1 = $6.1195 RMB).
